The Saskatchewan Selects football organization is a high-level program that was founded in 2012. The vision of the Selects program was to offer elite football training and development over the winter months, allowing players the opportunity to continue playing during the off-season.
Each February, the entire program travels to San Antonio to play in the International Pigskin Classic that features teams from Canada, the US, and Mexico. This year was an especially successful run for the program, as their teams played 13 games across 3 days, racking up a championship in the 10U bracket, two runner-up finishes in the 14U and Varsity division, and a fourth in the 12U division.
Not only were these Selects teams successful on the scoreboard, they also managed to leave San Antonio without a single significant injury; incredibly impressive considering there are 179 players across the 5 teams. The Selects program is committed to excellence on and off the football field and this commitment extends to player health and safety—a blended approach that includes awareness, tackling techniques, diagnosis through the teams’ medical and training staff and adopting the latest innovations in protective equipment.
We are proud to be associated with this great program and extremely pleased to see that well over 100 Selects players—roughly 75% of the program—have consistently and successfully worn the Q-Collar all season and throughout the Pigskin Classic.
Congratulations to a program doing all the right things on and off the field.
